On our way home!

It is Tuesday evening in Guangzhou and we are all packed for the trip home early tomorrow morning. We are excited and can't wait for Sarabeth to meet the rest of her family.

Today was a gorgeous day in Guangzhou, sunny, at least 80 degrees and no humidity. We had a very relaxing lunch at an outside table at Lucy's. The Shamian park butts up against Lucy's property, and the park was full of people playing hacky sack and enjoying the warm sun during their lunch breaks.

We had an uneventful trip to the US Consulate where we took the oath, swearing that we told the truth in all our adoption documents. They then gave us Sarabeth's passport with the immigration visa attached and the "sealed brown envelope" which must be turned over to customs upon arriving in the US. Even though we're in a large room with many other families all swearing the same oath, and we've done it twice before, we still get chills when we go through this ceremony. It finally sinks in......we are done (except for the long ride home) and Sarabeth is ours. She will become a US citizen the moment we land in Minneapolis tomorrow afternoon.

We will post again once we get settled in at home. For now, we head to bed thankful for all of your e-mails, comments, thoughts and prayers as we Journeyed to Sarabeth.

Love, Mary and John
